Creating Christmas Cards

The life of the creative man is lead, directed
controlled by boredom.
Avoiding boredom is one of our most
important purposes.

~Saul Steinberg

I created this Christmas Card while avoiding boredom on a quiet Saturday afternoon.

The only problem is that it took up to half an hour to design and create. Do I really want to spend so much time on each card?

Hmmm... maybe I'll try to come up with something a bit simpler...

  1. It is pretty! But I have to agree. Would I really want to spend that much time on each Christmas card? Maybe after the first one, the others will be easier?

Thanks for visiting my blog. I enjoyed the return visit! Your family is precious! I love learning about others who live in completely different places. We would never see that much snow where we are (the deep south).

I pray you have a great week, my new friend!

  2. The card looks lovely! Wow you make handmade Christmas cards! Very nice. I only make handmade cards for other times of the year, I think I am too unorganized to make them this time of year. :) I've already waited too long for everything else, shopping, wrapping, cookie making :)

How much snow do you have now? We have nothing here in northeast PA. Everything has melted after 2 days of rain. We are enjoying it being warm though. It's 60 instead of the usual 30 to 40 F.

  3. Wow! Beautiful! I can tell by looking at it that it would be time consuming. That's why I like to take classes. Usually most of the stuff is pre-cut. All I have to do is stamp, emboss and stick ;-).

  4. Hey this is a wonderful card! Hey check out She is doing a give-away that I think you would like! Hope that you have a wonderful Christmas with your family!

  5. i also make my own cards - and love it...! my christmas cards this year are very simple and low key. And small.
this one is beautiful, Katrina! i think if you decide on a certain design, even when it's more complex there are always ways to speed up the actual making process; you need to have a bit of a production line going on, maybe even get your eldest involved in helping out??
(I know what my Sam is like and would never dream of it myself...!! but it might work for you)
whatever you decide, i think it's gorgeous and well worth trying to reproduce on a larger scale :)

  6. ps - i can't believe it's 8:27 pm with you...!! for me it's 4:28 in the morning and I'm sleepless :o(

  7. That is seriously impressive, and very 19th century Arts and Crafts in style.

I appreciate your thoughts and read each and every one... thank you!
