Blossoms Discovered

Kinda neat to discover blossoms on this easy to grow, non-fussy houseplant this morning.

I'm surprised it awarded me with such prettiness after all my neglectful care.

I don't even have a name for it. Does anyone happen to know what it should be called?
+++++

*Updated* Looks like I'll answer my own question. :) After doing a bit of poking around in Google images I've discovered that this is a Strawberries and Cream Wax Plant or Hoya!

...Strawberries and Cream. Mmmm.... I like it. :)

From under the moving boxes...

Just a quick note to say I am moving tomorrow, hence the silence from my little corner.

Thank you for all your comments in the last couple of posts... I am just too swamped with packing and all to get back to you! I really miss blogging and visiting you, dear friends, and will be back as soon as possible.

I am excited to be moving and will (hopefully) let you know the long story of how this all came about when I resurface. *smile*

Mistake or Miracle?

A few of you dear friends have been asking about my hand and wishing me a quick recovery.
Thank you so much... and so, here are the results...

When I went to get my X-rays done yesterday, the doctors actually let me see them (they didn't offer to show me the first time and I didn't think to ask) and it appears that I only have a break in my pinky finger! No... not a shattered bone in my hand like the other Doctor told me so convincingly.

I had been walking around for 9 days with this awful contraption on my left limb...

...when it appears that I only needed this!

So it seems that either the doctors made a big mistake... OR... I've had a miracle.

I'd love to say it was a miracle but I guess I'll never know! : )

Have you ever broken any bones? Which was the worst?

(And I've posted here as well.)

Just a quick hello to let you all know I'm still around!

I am having a wonderful, relaxing holiday with family.

We have had a huge snowfall here and, unfortunately, amongst the fun of tobagganning and such, I took a spill and broke my hand.

Needless to say I won't be putting many words with my blog posts for a while... It's just too hard to type with one hand!

But I'll still come by and "visit" you all!

Happy New Year!

Warmth Inside.

The most wasted of all days is
one without laughter.

~e.e. cummings

Yes, it's been another cold day... outside, that is.

I went to my sister's house this morning to help her clean and she unexpectedly invited me out for lunch. We went... just the two of us... her oldest daughters watched the rest of the children (thank you so much sweet Janina and Breanne!!!) and when we got back we sat and chatted and laughed.

Oh, we laughed so much, and it felt so good! I just love a good laugh... one where I can feel completely free to be myself... there's just nothing quite like it. You know what I mean?

Thank you, dear sister, for the warmth of your home and for the warmth you brought to my heart today.

Yes, it was cold outside, but that's okay 'cause inside all was warmth and coziness.

I posted over at my other blog today as well! Click on the link in my side bar to your right.

Full Moon

How like a queen comes forth
the lonely Moon
From the slow opening curtains
of the clouds
Walking in beauty to her
midnight throne!

Full moom last night. Did you all enjoy it as well?

"I Want the Snowman One!"

I have three bowls in my kitchen that DRIVE ME CRAZY...
Well, I guess it's not actually the bowls that put me over the edge
but the way the boys are about them.
On the mornings (which is almost every morning)
that I open the cupboard to get bowls for the oatmeal
and realize that these three are the only clean ones I cringe.
I know that as soon as the boys come into the kitchen
I will here things like:
"I want the snowman one!"
"I don't want the angel one!"
"Quick, get the bear one!"
"Ha ha, Allan has to have the angel one!"
Or visaversa and so on...
"Argh! Don't worry about it!", I say. But it never
seems to help. Why does it have to be such an issue!!??
I never know which one to give to which kid because
I know that whatever I do someones not gonna be happy.
Am I giving my kids a complex by giving them the angel one?
When I do, I here things like:
"I always have to have the angel one!"
"I hate the angel one!"
Do they think I love them less for giving them the angel one?
(I do try to make it even.)
They think it's for girls even though I've tried to tell them that
the only angels I've ever heard of where boys...
believe me, I've tried everything. ;)
EXCEPT: Throwing them out and getting some
simple thrifted plain ones!
Yeah! Maybe that's what I should do!
Now I just gotta remember next time I'm in town....
I bought those bowls before I ever had children...
if only I had known!
I've definitely learned my lesson...
never again will I buy cute bowls with pictures on the side!

P.S. I know this is all pretty trivial but I wanted to blog about it just for fun. ;)

One of those days???

We had a wonderful fun time at the Harvest Fair last night.
BUT...

The first words I heard this morning as I was somewhere between dreamland and reality were, "Dad, Jayden... he just pulled my ear really, really hard."

Oh no, is it gonna be one of those kinds of days???

(Not to mention the fact that they'll be all sugared up on the candy they got.)

Thankfully hubby got up to deal with them so that I could avoid the day a little longer under the covers.

Maybe I could just hide out today? Ummm... not gonna work... I'll just have to make the best of it.

Plan on having a "home day" and early to bed tonight.
Hope you all have a good weekend!

Our New Car...

Our new '08 Mazda 5!

My DH came home with this for me last Friday. The interesting thing to me is that the 4 yr. lease on our van ran out on the exact day of Allan's 3rd birthday. Who knew that exactly 1 year, to the day, after we bought our van that we would have another child! I think that's pretty neat.

Anyway, so when we told Allan that we would be getting a new car on his birthday, he assumed it was for him and said to me, with wide eyes,
"Yuh, and you gon' to sit in duh back and I'n gon' to drive to town!"
We all laughed so hard but I guess he was serious 'cause he still calls it his "birthday car"! *smile*
What do you think? The cars pretty cute, eh? Not much room, though.
I went for groceries yesterday and didn't even buy that much but I still had to put down a seat in order to get it all in!
Oh well, we'll make it work... I hope!

...The Best Medicine.

Anyone who has had their fair share of moles digging up their lawn is going to be able to relate well with this story. LOL.

When my husband and I were first married we lived in the Fraser Valley and, believe me, the moles in our yard would drive me to distraction.

Thankfully we don't have moles on the prairies.

I had such a good laugh when I read what Antique Mommy had to say about her experiences.

Enjoy.
